ABOUT HOWARD

Hi, I’m Howard Godfrey! I’m a vocalist, composer, arranger, music director, and music educator based in the Chicago area. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Writing & Production from Berklee College of Music, where I focused on vocal performance.

My background spans musical theatre, jazz, choral music, contemporary, and gospel music. As both a performer and educator, I believe great singing comes from a balance of healthy technique, storytelling, confidence, and individuality. Every singer has a unique instrument, and my goal is to help students develop a voice that feels authentic and sustainable.

While I have a strong foundation in musical theatre and choral singing, I work with students across many styles and experience levels, from beginners discovering their voice for the first time to advanced singers preparing for auditions, performances, recordings, competitions, or college auditions.

In addition to private teaching, I’ve worked as a music director, orchestrator, arranger, and vocal coach on original theatrical works and live performances. My teaching style combines strong technical training with encouragement, creativity, and practical performance skills so students can grow both vocally and artistically.
